Hi to my readers.

This blog was written mainly as a legacy for my daughter. However, it seems it is being read and hopefully appreciated by many other people.

Please would you give me some feedback on your thoughts and opinions of the blog so I know whether to continue or not.

Many thanks for reading my blog.

Hi Philip – Just wanted to say I found your blogs very interesting as I attended Chaucer Infants from Easter 1961 when I was 5 years old and I left in June 1963 to move to Bridgemary in Gosport where you were before moving to Plymouth. We lived quite close to HMS Collingwood where you went. My husband used to attend Bridgemary Infants where you say you attended. My teachers at Chaucer were Mrs Link and Mrs Hannam and the Head Mistress was a Miss Bunt I think. I also remember a John Sanger who you mentioned, he was on my table in my class at Chaucer so maybe we were in the same class too though I can’t remember your name? The other people on my table were Anthony Teague and Anne Baldwin – maybe you remember them? I loved that little infants school. Have just read it was demolished last year. Some lovely memories there though. ‘Twas another life! Before marriage I was Julia Thompson.

Hi Julia – Many thanks for your comments. I’m afraid I don’t think I remember your name at all, but then, I don’t recall that many to be honest. Donna Tooze, Pauline Daley, David Haughey are a few. One of the teachers I have fond memories of was Mrs Furse. Cant say I remember John Sanger from Chaucer Way though. I also didn’t know the school had been there until that recently. I went to the area many years ago and looked for it briefly but didn’t find it, so assumed it had already gone at that time. On the same trip I looked for my secondary school, Widey Tech. I think I arrived just as the last brick hit the floor and the dust was settling! Quite upsetting really, although I hated almost every minute of being at school at the time.
Thanks again for getting in touch and I am glad to have sparked some memories for you. It has also reminded that its about time I updated this with all the latest news.
      Good luck and best wishes.
      Philip.
